New Holland Brewing Company offers brewery and distillery tours at the Production Brewery on Commerce Court every Saturday, and live music and food and beer pairings at the New Holland Pub on 8th Street. Tours are $10 per person and include samples of our beer as well as a take-home New Holland pint glass. Summer tour hours begin May 7 and run through November 19.

The Detroit Institute of Arts recently received a generous bequest and rich art collection from James Pearson Duffy, one of Detroit’s most unorthodox collectors. This exhibition showcases this varied collection of drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures and photographs.

Contemporary artists shed light on life in the Motor City during the past decade in the exhibit Detroit Revealed: Photographs 2000-2010. From its neighborhoods, factories and vast urban prairies, the exhibition includes more than 50 photographs by selected artist.

The 2011 International Festival of Lights will again return in all its beauty with all lighting structures having been updated with LED lights. One of the most popular lighting displays is the Twelve Days of Christmas which is located on the back lawn of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. Nightly, children romp the structures singing and enjoying quality family time together. A fabulous light and music show is on-going every night in Mill Race Park across from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Each year the Nelson Neighborhood Improvement Association holds this annual tour which draws hundreds to see some of Muskegon's most unique, historic homes decorated for the Christmas season. The tour begins at the Union Depot in downtown Muskegon and is self directed by your car. A map and historic information will be provided. Refreshments will be at some of the tour stops. The tour is from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Chris Webber, Detroit native, National Basketball Association All-Star player (retired) and NBA announcer, collects rare artifacts that illuminate the lives and legacies of African American greats such as Phillis Wheatley, the first African American author; Rosa Parks, mother of the modern civil rights movement; civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and many others.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is preparing an interactive exhibit, Thank God for Michigan! Stories from the Civil War, which opens June 13, in recognition of the date the first local soldiers left to join the battle. It showcases more than 100 artifacts from the museum's vast collection – uniforms, weapons, photographs, letters and more and tells the personal stories of Michigan’s involvement in the historic conflict. It will examine the causes and impacts of the war from national, regional and personal perspectives.
